Group by...DVD?

Post by LucMa »

Hi:)

I like organize my movie's list in order by DVD, the only way that i have find to do that is set AMC Group by number but i can't rename the number with a world. There is a way in order to obtain this?

for example:

Spielberg:
ET
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Minority Report

Tarantino:
Kill Bill 1
Kill Bill 2

etc..

is possible?

Thank's and bye :)

NO  media label sort all my movie in the same group

first i have my list in this format

1 (3)
- 1 ET
- 1 Close Encounters of the Third Kind
- 1 Minority Report

2 (2)
- 2 Kill Bill 1
- 2 Kill Bill 2

ect

with media label i have

none (386)
1 ET
1 Close Encounters of the Third Kind
1 Minority Report
2 Kill Bill 1
2 Kill Bill 2

are all in the same group named "none"

Sorry if i explain no good, i want see my list in this mode

Spielberg:
- ET
- Close Encounters of the Third Kind
- Minority Report

Tarantino:
- Kill Bill 1
- Kill Bill 2

what i must do for change the "none" name with the director's name of the film?

what i must do for have the movie not in ONE bug list but separated by dvd (director's)?

Many thank's :)

But then you have to put the group name in the media field :p (and you have some options to put movies of "none" group outside anygroup)

But if you want to have groups by director, why not group by director field :??:

sorry but i can't translate correctly your answer, can u speak easy please?

i can' order by director becouse i have some movie where are some component and aren't exactly in the list.

An example, i have the movie Angel heart by Alan Parker but i haven't it one the Alan Parker DVD but in the Mickey Rourke dvd

So, don't know why i can't rename the group :ha:

The best is that i enter the dvd in my DVD, AMC read the movie and request me the name that i want made to the Group.
After i order my catalog by name or the DVD and i see a list like

Musical
Commedy
Tarantino
Spielberg

and if i want see the movie in the Tarantino group i click on in and i see the list

This is the only way speed for find a movie. Don't know why there is no this option

That's why I suggested you to use Media Label.
Put the name of the group in the "Media Label" field of each movie.
So there is a possibility to get what you ask :p

ok, now is perfect..last question and i stop bugging you :D

now i have the movie order by label but the number aren't consecutive, for example, i have:

Kubrick

23 - A Space Odyssey
44 - Eyes Wide Shut

Polansk

13 - Le pianiste
80 - Le locataire

Is possible re-order the movie in consecutive alphabetical numbers?

the best if is possible that all the movie have the same number when are in the same label, like

Kubrick

11 - A Space Odyssey
11 - Eyes Wide Shut

Polansk

12 - Le pianiste
12 - Le locataire

Is possible?

Many thank's..for your patience :)

You will have to modify the number of each movie then.

An automatic solution : if you want for example

Kubrick
11 - A Space Odyssey
12 - Eyes Wide Shut
Polansk
13 - Le pianiste
14 - Le locataire

is to use "Tools" -> "Renumber". Then select "advanced", and select the fields MediaLabel followed by Number.

This is the way I should do it:

Export list to csv, import it in Excel / openoffice Calc, change the numbers, and export it back to .csv, which i then import again in amc.

Or press F2 and change it manually, if the list isnt really big.

Or use the automatic way antp suggested :o
